Default Irvine 4/21 - One Stoked Kid!!

Not a yak/tube report, but worth reporting:

My sister-in-law participates in the "Big Sister" program, which sponsors kids in Foster Care, and was able to receive clearance from a judge (no lie) to let me take her and her "little brother" fishing over the weekend.

I arrived at the lake around 7am and trolled for about 2 hours, waiting for them to arrive. I picked up a few nice fish on the Fire Tiger Thomas Bouyant and Gold Cast Masters.

This was "Little Brother's" (LB) first time out fishing and he was so excitied to be out on the lake in a boat.

We hit of few of the spots I normally fish for zero action.

We then went over by the West Shore and finally hooked up LB with his first fish ever. He was so excited that I thought he was gonna jump out of the boat. He played with that fish on the stringer all day!

We moved/trolled around a few times and picked up a few here and there. We managed to get everyone on the boat fish, so mission accomplished.

Largest was one at 3.3lbs on a white mini-jig.

Saw lots of fish being caught and many decent stringers at the cleaning station.

We kept 3 which LB took home for dinner.

I have really enjoyed seeing my kids catch their first (and many after that) fish and it was a true pleasure seeing LB get out and enjoy something he had been wanting to do for years!

We gave him the full treatment, lots of snacks, drinks, etc... had him casting and driving the boat, letting out/reeling in the trollers, netting fish, just way too kewl!

He was, by far, the most stoked out kid I have ever taken fishing!!

Ed

Yea, as we get older ,we forget what it was like to take a kid fishing. I'm a grand paw now, so I'm waiting for my grandkids to get old enough.
