NOTE: Along the California Coastline, the term "Halibut Country" is often heard. North of us towards Malibu prized California Halibut such as this one are brought aboard kayaks. South of us towards San Diego, at LaJolla Shores every once in awhile some yakker pulls up a 30lb or 40lb class halibut on their kayak.

Slow trolling or drifting like we often do here lends itself well to halibut fishing. Live baits works very well for them, as does plastics or other artificial lures. They are ambush feeders, and they are some of the best at it.
