Default Greetings from Guantanamo

Hi Y'all,
I'm new here so let me introduce myself. I got into 'Yak fishing back in 2003 while living in San Diego. Mabye a few of you might know me, I remember fishing with folks from plastic navy who really helped get me into the sport. Anyway I spent some time on Guam where I didn't fish at all and am now looking at gettin back into it down here in GTMO. I'm excited to start working the mangroves back where bigger boats can't reach. I'm going to purchase a Pelican Apex 116 soon and slowly add the goodies to it. Well that's all for now, just wanted to say hi.

Greetings for us here at All Kayak Fishing

The guys from TPN are a good bunch of guys They're having their first northern tournament as it were today at Cabrillo Beach. I was planning on going, but a family member has been under the weather and I needed to stay close home and help with that and the kids today. Next year, TPN is planning something with Western Outdoor News. If WON is involved, it's gonna be big.

I've never used a pelican kayak before. Is that what you can get over there or can you get the mainstream ones if you wanted? Do you fish from a boat now? If so, how is it? Inquirey minds want to know,LOL. TC&TL,
Perry

The pelican is all I can get here, there isn't too much info out there on it so once I paddle around in it I'll be sure to write a full review.

I'm currently fishing on rental boats from the Mwr Marina down here, they're okay but it'd be nice to have something I can call my own. Targeted fish down here are pretty much the same as in south Florida, snappers, groupers, dolphin, snook, ect. They won't let a kayak exit the bay itself, but there is plenty of bottom fishing at the mouth of the bay. Inside the bay one can go into the mangroves in search of fish. There are various old moorings scattered all over the bay (old battleship moorings from the spanish american war and WW1) to look for fish under. Hopefully I can hook up with one of the old Jamacian guys who really know the bay, they always come in with their limits on snappers.
