Smooth Jazz Festival 5-26-07 In the Gas Lamp!

Every Memorial weekend KIFM 98.1 FM, the local smooth jazz station here in San Diego puts on a fantastic jazz festival in the Gas Lamp district downtown. They block off several square blocks and only people with tickets to the festival can get in. It runs from 2:00 P.M. Saturday Afternoon till 10:00 P.M. Saturday night. They have two stages set up a couple of blocks apart. After one band finishes playing another starts up at the other stage. Also 26 clubs in the Gas Lamp had live bands playing in them during the festival! You talk about a party! It was 21 and over only, so the crowd was real mellow. Lots of people, but everyone was very well behaved.



Oli Silk kicked things off. This guy can jam on the keyboards!



It is so awesome to be able to take a break and head into some of the clubs to see some incredible musicians up close and personal! Here is Shep Meyers

Here is none other than Mr Norman Brown! This guy can play a guitar like you wouldn't believe!



Norman was joined on stage by Peabo Bryson. What a great voice this guy has!

We went from club to club to stage to club watching some incredible musicians perform! We stopped at Freds Mexician Cafe for some awesome calamari tacos and cold Tecate's. It was a great time! I will definitely be back next year!
