what to wear?

What about cooler weather garb and possible surf launch?

I live in San Diego area, surf site would be La Jolla Shores and wanted to know what I could wear and not break the bank.

Note: I have not tried surf before and I expect I will turtle, fall is here and warm days are dissappearing fast in that there is little time for lessons.
