Advice much needed!!
Well, I want to get into kayak fishing and I've heard a lot about the sport. I'm really interested in purchasing a kayak but would first like some advice from experience kayak fishermen. I live in Miami, Fl and planning on just going down to the Florida Keys to do my kayak fishing. What are some specific kayaks that I should consider? What would be some features I should look for? And as far as a price range goes, what should I stay between? And just some overall advice on the sport... Thank you in advance for taking time to read my post. Jaz |

Re: Advice much needed!!
Jaz,
To know more about the kayak that might fit you best we need a lot more information. How tall are you? What do you Weigh? Do you have any Kayak Experience? Have you found any features on boats that really appealed to you? On the Budget, really nobody should set this but you. What is the Max you want to spend? Remember that money saved on buying a boat with what you need and not Way more than you need can be put into getting an awesome seat/ paddle which you will be thankful for later. Feel free to give me or Brian a call at 866-587-2990

Re: Advice much needed!!
Hey Siebler,
Thank you for your help. I am about 5'9-5'10 currently weighing 175lb plan on losing 25lbs though lol I've been on kayaks and canoes a couple of times and i am completely comfortable in them. I really dont know what to look for i want something that will last me awhile maybe a couple years not just a kayak for now and then maybe a year later i want something more. I dont want to go over $1500 and i was just looking at the Prowler Trident 15 Angler and thought it would be a great one. I was also looking at the GTS Elite Fishing Sit-On-Top seat for it too. What do you think? I am just really anxious to get out there and fish especially seeing everyone's pictures on here of what they've caught. I am amazed on what you can actually reel in on a kayak. |

Re: Advice much needed!!
Consider the Ocean Kayak Trident 13 and 15, Malibu Kayaks X 13, Wilderness Systems 140 and 160. These are what I would consider paddling and I am about the same size.
Surf to Summit's Elite is very comfortable.

Re: Advice much needed!!
Jaz, that is alot of great info. Those guys are very knowledgeable in kayaks. My only advise to you would try to test paddle the yaks you are thinking of and even some you were'nt. That way you will see how each one handles and feels. Might keep you from buying one that really isn't the one that fits you the best. Good luck to you.

Re: Advice much needed!!
I am on the 160 and it suits me very well, longer, wider and heavier than the 140, but very stable and as CJ suggested, you should try to find some to test paddle. I am about your size. Good luck!

Re: Advice much needed!!
I too paddle the 160 however for newer kayak anglers the 140 does offer more stability. It is much more popular with our customers than the 160
