Question Pungo or Tarpon- Which is a better choice

I am new to this and am ready to buy a kayak. The Pungo 140 looked good since I weigh 278 lbs. and am 6ft. The Tarpon 120 is for my wife. It looks great also. I was thinking of the Tarpon 140. So would the Pungo be worse. We want to start out just lakes and slow rivers, and want to also start fishing. Recreation to start. We are really hooked though.

Personally I would go with the 140. Its more versatile and for California it just works better in case you ever want to go paddle the ocean (through surf). Also consider the learning curve. If you flip a SOT you just climb back on. Not so simple with a SinK. Both boats however are excellent choices.

Please feel free to give me a call at the shop if you have any more questions.
