Default Fishing gear weight

I am new to Kayak fishing and looking for a yak. I have seen kayaks that support about 300#. But how much do you allow for your fishing gear, anker, cooler ect?

I weigh 270# and I want tomake sure I get enough capacity without draining the bank!

Default Re: Fishing gear weight

Depends on where you fish, and how much stuff you carry with you.
I'd say 30-40# is about right for all the gear and tackle we carry with us on the West Coast.

You want to pick a stable kayak - Malibu Xfactor or Stealth 14, Hobie ProAngler, or even good old Cobra Fish&Dive
