Well long and short of it......Got to the beach around 6 and paddled on out to Pat's spot, with an offshore wind I decided I should start shallow and then drift on out. After about 45 mins of the YoYo I got a bump and a miss, undiscouraged I stuck it out, another 45 pass and on the drop 1 quick crank and BENDO!!!!! First run took a grip of line and at least half a spool, had me praying that it would be yeller, after a few more reel ins and runs....he spyed the evil lobster trap and line!!! I button down the drag with a good amount of confidence in the improved cinch knot and 40 lb P-Line, get him up to about 40' where he hovers while still trying to make it for the pot. After another 5 or so minutes he reels in really ez and basically floats up all tuckered out and gaffs and clips nice and ez!!
35lbs of pure yellow love!!!!
Nothing in his belly and no signs of squid!
