Default hot spots in Mission Bay

Can anyone tell me where the hot spots are in Mission Bay? Also, what is the best way to rig up? My son and I go often, but have very little luck. Thanks Steve

Hi Steve

I have had some good luck in Sail bay and under the Ingraham Bridge. When the tide gets moving the fish wake up and feed. I like the Bridge. I usuall fish with Berkley Gulp. Both the Shad and the shrimp work great. I have good luck with these baits on a "Drop Shot" rig. Using 6 to 8 lb test line, Its very simple to tie. And it keeps your bait just above the bottom. I have caught Halibut, Spotted Bay Bass, Sand Bass, Rays and even a Smooth Hound Shark with this method. Mission bay is great however I have started fishing the San Diego bay near Shelter Island. it seems like ther is more action in this bigger bay. But there is plenty of fish in Mission Bay. Mission bay has an easy launch too. By the bridge there is a park where I park my truck and drag my kayak 20 feet the waters edge. Good luck to you guys. Remenber the fishing usually gets better when the tide is moving. Slack tide really slows down the action, but they still bite.
