If you're needing a kayak for fishing, I would avoid a tandem kayak, as they will limit the space you have for storing gear. That is of course unless you are planning on taking someone else for a ride.

Agree with Mike. You want to purchase something that is at the least capable of holding your gear to something that you can customize.

I won't suggest tandem kayak for fishing. It is better to look for a single person hull sit-on-top kayak. When it comes to fishing storage space is required. I am comfortable with sit-on-top kayak for fishing.
