Exclamation Why do we fish from tiny tupperware boats?

I answered a post asking WHY? on a San Diego board and decided to pose the question here! Here's my response. Join in! Feel free to post YOUR reasons!

1.It's total freedom!

2.It's intimate with the sea!

3.It's good exercise!

4.It's productive!

5.It's affordable!

6.It's simple!

7.It's possible to fish virtually anywhere along the coast, not just near a harbor or launch ramp!

8.It doesn't require huge slip fees, a monster truck, and a huge parking space!

9.No scraping the bottom!

10. If your boat gets wrecked, buy a new one and use the old one as a planter!

11. You can use your boat in a river, lake, pond, bay, or open sea!

12. No trailer sitting in the yard!

13. No fees for a storage yard!

14.It's sexy!

15.It's primitive!

16.It's a little work and a lotta fun!

17. About a gazillion other reasons!

The reason I started yakfishing is because my adult son, known as JerryG on these boards, was into it and I wanted to join him. The rest as they say, is history! Piranha,

Thumbs up reasons

Jerry,
I would have to say all those you mentioned. I mainly like the fact that there is no gas motor chugging away and you're smelling the fumes from it. The only fishing more relaxing for myself more so than my kayak would be from my float tube, listening to some tunes while casting a fly....oh yea.....

Default

I cast from a kayak because a kayak puts me one on one with the fish as well as the rest of nature.

Why do I paddle a kayak instead of a pontoon boat or a float tube? I like seeing where I'm going not where I've been. http://www.paddleandflies.com/
