Thumbs up Thanksgiving Fishing

Anyone have plans for fishing over the upcoming holiday? I'm planning a trip out to Irvine for some trout fishing probably the day before Thanksgiving to check out the freshwater action. I'm planning on taking the fly rods and float tube for the day just so they don't collect too much dust Anyone else planning to hit 'Da Vine soon?

Perry,

I have that entire week off. Let's hit the Vine if it's looking good or a bit of Cali fishing off the coast.

Spoke with a friend of mine. It looks like Newport's Coast Guard Beach for a few of hours on Thanksgiving morning. Come join us! See you on the water!

Where do you launch at Irvine? Any fees? What time will you get there?

Have you tried the flies from the yak?

Cashe,
I figure we'll be launching around 6:30a.m. Most fishing will be primarily from the Coast Guard Station to the Bait Barge. Possibly paddling out into open water for a short time. I don't see us staying more than 3 hours or so. Hopefully you can make it out with us. Just look for the green pontoon kayak and that'll be me.

Pontoon Kayak? What's that? Or is it a float tube?

No. It's a kayak. Aussie Kiwi Angler. Here's a pic. Not the best shot but it's all I have.

Here's a pic from the net.

Thumbs up Re: Thanksgiving Fishing

Seaslug,
I usually launch below where the camping is when I hit Irvine Lake. I know the water level is down and I haven't been there yet this year, so I'll have to play it by ear until I see it. The fees are $20 to get in, plus an additional $5 to launch a float tube or kayak. They have a pretty decent website with the info on it at http://www.irvinelake.net

Hope this helps,
Perry
