Default Stinkbaits for cats

Any of you guys fish stinkbaits for catfish? I fish for Wels catfish in Spain from my yak but traditionally, small carp are used as livebait. Tricky having a bait-tank on my boat as the rear storage well is awash already due to the weight of my muscular frame, ahem, so have been trying stinky calamari with some success - but you lot have been catfishing in the US far longer. Different subspecies yes, but have you any favorite baits for flatheads?

Live bait works best for our flatheads. Usually bluegill or large goldfish.

I agree, Flatheads eat the live bait better than anything. Second best is Fresh Cut Bait.

I use livebaits myself when fishing from a larger boat, but my kayak would sink if i had a livebait tank with 4lb carp in it!
Any other ideas?

Use a fillet/slab of the carp with tail and skin attached. Hook it one time through the end so that in current it has movement and a tail. Cats dont have the best eyesight so it shouldnt be much worse than live bait.

We fish slab baits this way for flatheads a lot. Also how I slab for Rock Cod. Leaving the tail on is important.
