Epic Catalina Fishing
Early morning fog on the West end had us fishing the front side for about 2 hours. Nice pick on big fish to 4lbs along the points and deeper water kelp areas. Got fish on iron and the big baits. Moved to the backside of Cat and the new swell was showing. Couldn't fish in tight but did hit some deeper water kelp for more fish on the big baits and irons. We also were blasted a few times by schools of monster bonita in the 7-9 lb range. I was fishing 40lb on the jig stick with the drag fully locked down and the fish were still ripping drag! Eric's 4+lb fish: We also got a few really nice one's on the surface plastics. This one went 5.4lbs: We caught well over 40 fish today and only maybe 5 were less than 2lbs, most again in the 3-5lb range. Are we sure this is still December??? Ed

Re: Epic Catalina Fishing
Solid day on the water. Great job! Hopefully I'll make it out there before the weather starts to take a turn for the worse.
