I'm 42 and a former football player with an aging football player's body. I'm 5'10 and 245 and fit in my Old Town Loon just fine. A few years ago I traded some firearm reloading equipment for it used. It suits me. I'm no expert but I would look at one with a decent sized cockpit opening and not much over 12 feet. Old Town actually makes one advertised as a fishing kayak. Find a used one...you can get one in good shape for less than half the price of a new one. I just paid $200 for my daughter's Zydeco Dagger.
