Re: New Gulp
I saw it at Bass Pro Shops. I would hate lugging a huge bottle around.
Too expensive No Action on the bait Works so/so anyone disagree with me ?? |

Re: New Gulp
With most of the fish I have caught on Gulp products I don't think action had anything to do with it. Last year We were killing the bass on the new penny shrimp! This year has been different as the fishing in general has been way off
in my opinion. The good thing about this Gulp jar setup is you will be able to soak your other plastics in it. I think it is more the scent that makes the Gulp work. Just my .02 Robert |

I infuse my scents into the plastic and coat them with a light oil scent after I pour. I spend most of my time developing a solid vibration from my bait and scent as a secondary enticer. This has not only doubled my catch this year but trippled my bass catch, just from improving and altering the design and texture of the avalible bait sold at all tackle shops. I agree with fishfinder too expensive and no vibration |

Re: New Gulp
I agree with FF. I've used gulp with good results on a drop shot rig and with a 1/4oz leadhead, but other than that I use standard grubs and swimbaits most of the time. Gulp works, but I'm not sure it works so much better than other soft baits to make it worth the $$.
It's not plastic, thats for sure. The best guess I heard was it's made from a dairy product or something along those lines. Perry

Re: New Gulp
I'm glad to hear somebody has had good experience with the Gulp baits. It seemed to me the Gulp baits are so prevalent, somebody must be catching with them. Otherwise, they wouldn't keep selling them. I'd like to give them a try sometime, but I want to work toward the limitations of my current arsenal first. Between swimbaits, live bait and more recently, spinners, I think I still limit my bait's productivity more than they limit mine. I do think it would be interesting to dip a few lures in the ol' jug and see what the fish do with it.
Since I've heard some of you guys talking about it, I've been trying out the Hot Sauce. I also regularly coat my swimbaits with squid juice. I like to go out with a pack of frozen squid so I can add a strip to the swimbaits, so I always have it on hand. I can definitely say the squid helps. I haven't used the prepared scents enough to have an opinion yet, but a lot of guys swear by them and they happen to be guys catching fish. The more I think about it, I might just have to go buy a "Jug-O-Gulp"

Re: New Gulp
I used smelt U shrimp gulp with good results last year in NPB and at Castros Fish Camp in Baja. This year I have had almost no results.
That said for me it is Gulp or cut bait or live bait - forget the plastics. Yeah - I know several of you guys who do great with plastics - I think it is in the wrists - speed and twitching - not enough practice yet. When it comes down to it and I am determined to catch fish when no one else is - I filet at sardine or anchovy and drop it down - NOTHING resists that when they are fresh. If you don't lose the bait there aren't even crabs in the water so quit. my 2 cents Steve |

When all else fails put an anchovy on a Carolina rig. Right Perry?
