Solana Beach Surf Report 5/27
around 10-12 mph. Surf was a friggin washing machine loaded with kelp and eel grass. Piles of kelp and eel grass all up and down the beach. Every cast I made the line got fouled with salad. Walked down the beach about 200 yards and it was the same everywhere. 1 dink perch on the camo fish crack save me from a skunk. The conditions totaly sucked! The good thing was that I got to fish with my new rod. It worked great. Left at 9:30. I'll try it again next weekend. Robert |

Re: Solana Beach Surf Report 5/27
Thanks for the report bro. How does the rod work with the Alvey? Does it load up good for casting and have a nice action with a fish on? I have plenty of ocean sticks, but short on freshwater stuff now, plus I need a good sabiki stick for piers etc...Just wondering how the blanks are. You think your stick and alvey can catch a few trout ? The mountains be callin'

Re: Solana Beach Surf Report 5/27
Perry,
The new rod worked perfect! Good backbone, sensitive, and it casts great! I was using a 3/4 oz sinker today. I can see myself using a 1 1/4 oz easily. I was using my Alvey 500 BCXL reel and it goes great with the new rod. I will be fishing for trout soon with the new rod. I might just have a beer while I'm doing it. Robert |
