Los Al / Oil Platform Eva 6-30-07
Left the house to beautiful clear and sunny skies. Got down to the waterfront to dark dreary, but not cold, weather. On the water @ 715 by the Gondolas. Putz'd around Los Al for a while and beelined it to the Los Al entrance @ 800. Felt determined to make it to Oil Platform Eva today and Right out of the barn got picked up on a mackeral that popped off at color. Immediately afterwards got picked up by a lizardfish and Never made it to the platform but got close. Trolled around the outside for a while and made my way to seal beach. Trolled to the SB pier and back to the jetty for no love. Flipped to the western side of the jetty and trolled close in to the beach even with Island Chaffee. Still no love. Ran into hundreds of dead fish . Does anybody know what causes this? Floaters from the bait barge ? On the way back in saw a cool water display done probably by a fire fighting tug There must be a school of macs just hanging 300 yard or so off the entrance to Los Al cuz I got picked up again. This time I was able to land em.

Re: Los Al / Oil Platform Eva 6-30-07
MG2969,
Thanks fr the report and photos. It looks like a boat may have emptied out it's bait tank to have that many fish so close together, but they look alot larger than the usual bait fish. Maybe they wee meant to be cut bait or something. I'm surprised the birds hadn't picked them off by then. They usually snag floaters pretty quick. That lizard fish looks like it inhaled your entire bait, I thought I was the only one they did that to. Those things can be obnoxious. TC&TL, Perry
