Default trolling rod holder

Where is the most convienient location to put a rod holder for trolling? I see some put them behind them. That seems like a hard place to see strikes. I would think that someplace forward would be good. What are your favorite places??
My kayak is basic and I will be modifying it for fishing. It's a "old town" otter. It is only 10' long,l but I think will work for flat water and some river fishing.

Default Re: trolling rod holder

you sorta answered your own querry. Depending on space available on your yak, flat gunnels, ryno bar or??? Scotty holders could be mounted just about anywhere. Some place behind and using a conventional reel in free spool and clicker on to alert you in case of strike. Placing behind makes for unobstructed paddling/trolling.
