Re: Dana Point
We used to eat them right on the bottom out of the shell. I wasn't sure about it the first time but it is the best way to eat a fresh scallop. My friends still initiate new divers with the ritual of cleaning one out and popping it in the mouth right there under water. The reactions are varied but no one has chickened out that I know of. Lorain Saddler used to bring a bottle of soy sauce out on the boat and bring a few up after every dive when I was hangning around on Catalina back in the day. Do you still dive?

Re: Dana Point
Haven't dove since about 1984 - lived in Phoenix for 2 years. Certified in 1966, dove Pismo Beach area DAILY for about 6 years - almost all free diving.
Even when I dove I preferred rod and reel - except Hawaiian Sling for big halibut in Avila Beach (free diving every May/June) to 50+ pounds. Steve |

Re: Dana Point
Nice meeting you on the water today Incredible. Thanks for the gift.
Piranha & I ended up with lots of croaker, short WSB, a couple of legal sandies and spotties plus pencil barries. One kayaker caught a mola mola outside - to big to get in his yak. |
