Smile Lake Perris Report or lack of

Well,
Had a few days off and ended up working all but the last day with visions of catching bass at lake Perris like in May. Plans were going well until an snafu on the 215 stopped traffic for an hour or so while a low boy trailer was pulled out of a ditch by tow trucks and the CHP. The predawn launch was changed to an 8am launch with no more surface bite except the late risers. There was one other regular out there tubing it also and we could meter shad and bass, but had a hard time getting them to go. Everything from brush hogs to craws to senko's to shad imitations were tried, everything but swimbaits which I should have taken at least a few Sail Cove had alot of moss in it which made it a challenge to keep your rigs clean. Moving out to deeper 15'+ water helped with the moss and bites, but a decent sized fish still eluded me this day.

The new boston valves I put in the tube bladders worked out well, so it was a good day. Now to mount my FF and build another rod rack and the tube will be good to go in the "Big Salty".

Perry
