Spanish Landing/San Diego Bay Report
Jackie, Bob, Steve, and I launched from Spanish Landing a little after 6:00 A.M. Spanish Landing is a great place to launch. Some good fishing is close by. It was a beautiful morning. We fished the basin around the Harbor Island fuel dock for a while then we went under the North Harbor Blvd bridge and fished the channel all the way back to MCRD. I was having some good fishing shallow 5ft-8ft swimming a 4" pink/silver flake grub with a 1/4 oz leadhead over the top of the eel grass. The fish weren't the biggest, but they were fun and there was a lot of them! These Homeland Security boats always impress me. 4 225 horsepower Mercury Opitmax motors on each one! These bad boys would really haul a$$! Steve and I were off the water around 11:15. The wind and boat traffic were picking up. Jackie and Bob continued fishing. On the way home we stopped by the Mardi Gras Cafe for the best sandwiches in town! It was a great day on the water with some great friends! Let's do it again soon! Robert |
