Default LJ Friday 8/3

Drove down to LJ at 3:00 AM to a very warm day, my partmer Richard and I met with Jim Sammons at 5:30 spent ablut 2 hr. of instruction then we hit the waves. Me having a little experience in a kayak could not even get into the boat I took a bath at 6am of salt water. When I fineley got on the boat we headed out to make bait. Now this is where it payies to fish with a guide ( any guide ,they are all good it all depends on where you want to fish), making bait was suppose to be hard down there ,but Jim found ours soon. We started to troll and my partner was the first to hook up. A yellowtail which was just to small to keep. About an Hr I got hit and the picture will tell the words.
Ok I did not make the landing to well I got another Bath.
All in all we had a great time, and from what I have heard we are the only ones that got any yellows.

Sounds like you and your partner were the only ones to catch some yellows at L.J on Friday. WTG!

And no worries about the landing, we’ve all taken baths there.

Wbrewski,
Congrats on the trip and Thanks for the report Taking a class or two can really help shorten the learning curve for kayak fishing. Especially if one can use basic paddling instruction. Another one you may want to take is a surf zone class about entering and exiting the surf zone exclusively. I think Jim does one and maybe some of the other kayak shops in San Diego may also offer them now. I took mine with Southwind Kayaks at San Onofre a few years back and it was one of the best kayak classes I ever took. TC&TL,
Perry
