Re: kayak rod length
uhh i dont have a kayak yet but i have fished in one and i from my rods i prefered a longer rod like 7'6" cause i was going for yellowtails and my friend told me you need a rod that will allow the line to go around the front or back of the kayak or you will lose control of the fish
i was fishing a conventional reel(abu garcia ambassedeur) |

Re: kayak rod length
Remember, longer rod = longer lever. If you're fishing for something big, keep it under 8ft, preferably shorter. The boat will turn around a big fish that goes under the boat. A very long rod will be more difficult to control unless you have obliques like Arnold the Governor! I fish for wels catfish that go over 200lbs in my river, if I was hauling on a 10ft rod those babies will have me over on the first run!

Re: kayak rod length
I always go for short butts. That allows me to cast easily. besides that it's efficient too. it may sound weird but i am fly fishing from a kayak. i would suggest you guyz to try it. it's fun to be honest
