Kayak Stabilizer Question....
Help!!
I have a NuCanoe, Frontier 12 yak, which is a very stable, hunting/fishing platform, with a 41" beam! I want to use it around the rocks and kelp beds, nearshore, so I'm wanting to make some sort of outrigger/stabilizers, for something "extra". I bought some 6" diam., Kufa crab buoys. I thought I'd mount them, just under my seat, or at the back of it, which is where the greatest mass and almost the greatest beam would be. Since my yak is so wide, I could mount them very close to the yak. My question: Should I mount these in-line, like a torpedo, being lower profile and giving me length of stability, though only 6" per side?? OR..... Mount them side-by-side, giving me 12" per side? Would that shortened area of stability, shift forces and reduce my stability, compared to the in-line version?? Thanks, All! |
