Default Tidelands (San Diego Bay) Report 6/17

5 of us launched at 6:30 A.M. Jackie, Bob, Jenwai, Drew, and myself. It was overcast and warm. We paddeled straight out to the main channel just North
of the bridge and began dropshotting with the new penny Gulp shrimp. We all had fish on right away. We made several drifts and picked up some nice spotties. The tide was going slack So we moved to the South side of the bridge and picked up a few more on the dropshot. When the tide started to move again we hit the flat out in front of the amphib base. There was a bunch of flyfishingguys there just whacking the bass. We switched over to 1/4 oz leadheads and caught a bunch of bass. It was almost a fish a cast for a while. Most of them weren't that big, but a lot of fun. I ended up with around 35 bass to about 2 lbs and a 12" yellowfin croaker. We were off the water by 11:00 A.M. It was still overcast when we landed. The water temp on the flat was 76 degrees! It felt like a swimming pool. No pics today. My batteries were dead in my camera.
It wasn't wide open today, but it was still a good bite! What's not to like about San Diego Bay?
