Clemente 10,9,8,7,7,6 pounds that is

Norm and I decided to hit up Clemente today. Plan was to finally get around the backside (no ruffies involved) and work our way up from China. Nice fast crossing in the AM only to be stopped at China by the Navy. Missle testing on the backside.

So we decided to work our way back to Pyramid. First hour, zero, no bites, no followers.

Finally found a spot and the cloud came out of the rocks. Norm & I with a double:

Worked our way down a bit and the fish started getting larger

and larger

When Norm just gets crushed by a monster on the surface. Worked him out of the bushes and a 9.4 comes over the rail, Norms PB

We move down the beach and I see a huge fish follow my jig to the surface. It takes a swipe a misses, then just looks at the jig, I freespool the jig and the bass wacks it on the sink. A few times arounds the bow and it's in the boat. We saw another big follower so Norm tosses a jig and instant hook up. Seconds later, another 8+ bass in the boat:

We are looking at mine in the net and just screaming, throw it on the scale and it bounces between 10.1 and 10.4, so I'm claiming 10.4. My new PB and first calico over 10lbs!!!

In a few of the above pictures I may have messed up the pic and the actual weight, cause I'm pretty tired, but we did keep track.

Our 5 fish limit would have been 10.4, 9.4, 8.6, 7.2 & 7.6, a bit over 43 lbs!!

Lots of fish between 4-7lbs and very few under 2-3lbs!

Best day by far I have ever experienced fishing for big calicos.

All fish were caught on the TADY 45 Amber color.

Got our a$$es handed to us on the trip home, but it hurts too good!!

I am pretty friggin tired now!!

WOW! Some of the nicest calico's I caught from the kayak was over there also. But, still they were not nearly the quality of fish that you guys caught. You and Norm got some amazing fish on your trip, and it's really nice to see fish like this are still around and in good numbers also. It's like having a 50 fish morning at Crowley. It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does we never forget it and that's why we go :thumbup

Thanks for blurring the backgrounds also. It's just a personal thing, but I for one would like to see fish like these have a chance to be around for a few years longer. TC&TL,
Perry

Way to bag them bruisers!:thumbup Sounds like a "swell" ride home.:p
TADY 45 Amber. Is that the famous "scrambled egg" pattern?

Thanks Perry & Hank.

Hank, it is similar but not the same, I know scambled egg as white, yellow and brown (but then again I am VERY color blind). Here is the best shot I have of the jig - Tady 45 Amber Color.

I do not see the color on-line there.

I picked mine up at Boaters World in HB, corner of Springdale and Edinger. I was in there last night and they had a rack full of them in the Amber color.
