My friend Don (green t-shirt and hat) from Arizona sent us a few photos of him and others fishing for bass and pike with fly rods. The bass were caught at Lake Bartlett and not sure about the pike.

Hira,
Looks like about a 6wt for the bass and an 8wt for the pike or thereabouts. Is there alot of fly fishing where you're at?

Scott...So, the pike were not inroduced by the DFG for the lake they may be in I take it?

See ya for lunch,
Perry

Thank you for the Mr. perry reply.

i can buy a lot of kinds of fly tools for Japan.
However,
I think that it is difficult to search for the place where such a
splendid fish is caught in daytime.

Is the length of the fly from the fly line from which everything imagined photographs of pike in me to about nine feet? The fly is unusual shape. I have not seen the fly of such shape.

Let's enjoy good fishing. hira

They probably have this fish in Hokkaido. It's a Northern Pike, from usually) northern lakes! Piranha:brews

Thank you for the kindness Mr. piranha hello. :hello
I do not know whether there is truly Northanーpaike in Hokkaido.
The Pike imported as a pet might live illegal in Biwako. I have not seen, and have not fished it.

Re: Fly Rod fish

Hey guys and hello Hira16s.The rod used for the bass looks like a 6wt and the one for the pike look like a 9wt . I wouldn't use anything less. I been wanted to go after pike for years now and Lake Davis in all seriousness could be the ticket. Read the latest California Flyfishermen.
Spring could be the best time to hunt pike, they'll come into the shallows to hunt ducklings, other fish, basicly anything that swims in the water that will fit in their mouth. A floating line with a big fly tied to the end of it ,on a 9wt
could be the way to go. Several years ago I helped DFG do a fish shock on a local lake. One of the rangers started talking about Lake Davis, I told him they should leave it alone we could use a good pike lake in California.
he gave me the dirtest look I ever got in my life.

Re: Fly Rod fish

Pike on a fly is an absolute blast! 8 wt, floating line, decievers tied on a 2/0 works for me. i'm the guy holding the monster. For bass i use a 4 wt. casting bh woolly buggers, decievers, clousers, and gummy minnows. All work well.

bought my 1st kayak this fall to fish stillwaters and rivers with friends who tube. I like to gear up. Kayaking is the way to go!!!!

bought an old town dirigo before doing any research. now I own the dirigo and a ocean kayak scrambler xlt. the ocean k. is rigged to the max.

will be out to san diego for two weeks in july. love to hook up with one of you pros and chase some makos.

Hey Don, Did the pike come from a private lake, for that matter did the pike and the bass come from the same waters. Back in Michigan where I lived for several years, you could catch smallmouth bass, trout and pike from the same waters. DFG weren't has scared of pike as they are here in California.
