Open Bay Bass Tournament Open to Single Yakkers for $65
 

They have opened up the San Diego Anglers Open Bay Bass Tournament to single kayakers for $65. Its set for Jan 29, 2011.

First prize for 5 bass is $1500--$250 for biggest bass--$150 for biggest spottie.

Single kayakers do NOT need to have liabilty insurance like boaters for this event because it is not likely that a kayak might injure someone like a boat.

You do not need to fill out that part of the application.

Single kayakers do NOT need to wait in line for check in like boaters. Just pull up to Shelter Island Beach and park. Walk over to check in at the launch ramp. Someone will come back over to check your boat.

No bait is allowed prior to launching but squid strips are OK.

You may buy live bait after launching at the bait barge but you cannot fish there.

I was there when Duane said it. I am all for letting kayaks enter, but I think they should pay full price if they want full winnings. That is a good deal for kayakers.

Cool, I am seriously considering entering. I donated the 1200# of ice for several years, tell Duane the Iceman is coming. I did it a few years on the skiff and twice from tandem kayak. Have not entered it in 4-5 years, be fun to fish if again from the single kayak. sounds simple enough........no line.....$65.cool!

Who else is considering kayak?
