Any boundary rules?

Iceman 10-05-2010 09:16 AM

Re: San Diego Bay November 20th 201o Sign Up

Boundaries will be the Coronado Bridge to the south and the tip Zinuga Jetti at the mouth drawing a line to the tip of Point Loma.

No fishing within 50 yards of the bait barge, this means you as well as your bait.

The navy restrictions are subject to their enforcement. If told to move.....MOVE! Otherwise tournament rules will be 50 yards from any and all navy restricted areas, shore, ship or dock.

Andy, I just bought a boat. If I don't fish the tournament I will definitely provide a weigh boat for you. I'll also provide a bunch of lures for the raffle.

So if I understand it correctly at this point we'll be launching from Shelter Island? Is the award BBQ at the same location as the launch?

We will be checking in and launching from the south (right) of the boat launch, all along the beach. We will setting up for the awards near the gazebo on the opposite side of the boat launch.

Chipotle is catering this one!

How do we call for weigh boats? I don't have a radio as of yet.

Iceman 11-10-2010 04:15 PM

Re: San Diego Bay November 20th 201o Sign Up

In the past weigh boats have given out their cell numbers or just wait for them to come through the area you are fishing. when you see them weighing fish nearby paddle over.

Take out the comped entries and we have 10 people paid...a little over 1 week to go. If you know of a friend that plans to fish but is lagging on signing up, go over and give them a good kick! :beatdeadhorse5:

That sounds about right. I'm sure on tourny day about 30 people will sign up and then complain when the food runs out!!!

That should be one of the side bets. How many show up the day of and complain about not having enough food.

What about Angel? Hope he can make it as well.

He`ll be there. We haven`t been in a kayak since Dana. I`ve got the kayak training floaties ready to go, just in case , cobwebs off the rods/reels. Hope the legs don`t give out. It will be good to see everybody again.

Good to hear that Al. See you guys there.

Re: San Diego Bay November 20th 201o Sign Up

I hear there is a boat tournament the same day. A guy I talked to today says there have been more than 100 boats entered at this yearly tournament. You wait in line over an hour to launch your boat. Parking is going to be at a premium. I can just imagine on the water. I`m glad I didn`t prefish. Oh, and a chance of rain Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It`s going to be fun, haven`t really fished in the rain yet.

Will B. 11-15-2010 11:26 PM

Re: San Diego Bay November 20th 201o Sign Up

No no You are thinking of the Open Bay Bass in January--there wont be that many boats-probably about 20 or so --this is an interclub tournament--SD Anglers verses Rod & Reel Club=last year Rod & Reel Club won -

The two clubs have an internal competition between members and a club vs club for a perpetual trophy

-and Will Bowen who was signed up for both the SD Anglers tournament and Rod & Reel won them both in his kayak!

that big trophy by my name aint just for looks :sifone:

Re: San Diego Bay November 20th 201o Sign Up

Good job Will. Hope you do well on Saturday. Any hints on fishing in the rain? Do the fish get any wetter?

Jimmyz123 11-17-2010 08:33 AM

Re: San Diego Bay November 20th 201o Sign Up

I know I should save this question for the Captains meeting but what the heck. Are we allowed to have 2 lines in the water at the same time if we wish?

Will B. 11-17-2010 09:08 AM

Re: San Diego Bay November 20th 201o Sign Up

That was my last bit of good luck--a year ago

bad luck for a whole year!

The last tournament where it was windy and rainy I got skunked!

Bring your drift shute

You can have three lines in the water if you want but then they ususally get tangled when you are bringing in a fish.

Jimmyz123 11-17-2010 09:17 AM

Re: San Diego Bay November 20th 201o Sign Up

Thanks Will, I can't handle more than two lines in the water at one time. I'll have to see if I can pick up a drift sock before Saturday.
