Malibu Kayak Stealth 14 with X-Wing

Well it's not yet finished but here it is. My new Malibu Stealth 14 with the X-wing.

http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_4499.jpg
Now inside the kayak I had Andy at OEX in Sunset Beach add a floating Bilge Pump so if it fills with water it will pump the water back out automatically.
http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_4500.jpg
Here is the battery for the automatic bilge pump and my pump for the internal bait tank between my legs. It runs on a 6 volt 12 amp. battery.
http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_4501.jpg
Here is the switch to turn the bait tank on or off. Even if the switch is off, it will still trigger the floating bilge pump in the back if the kayak fills with water.
http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_4502.jpg
This is the view of the big hatch over the bait tank. A little big for me but good for Anthony to fill me up with bait easier at the bait barge.
http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_4505.jpg
But when I close this big hatch, take a look at my other hatch I had Andy install which makes it a whole lot easier to get bait. Plus I can open and close it a lot easier.

http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_4507.jpg
My transducer is now mounted on the Malibu X-Wing so I now have my ducer on the outside instead of thru the plastic for better readings. I will soon be having a Humminbird side view model so this is perfect.
http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_4504.jpg
This is the hatch on the side of the x-wing to store the battery for the fishfinder.
http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_4512.jpg
The same old bait tank for those longer days of fishing. And will be used for a livewell for Bass Tournaments.
http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_4508.jpg
Plenty of rod holder storage!
http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_4510.jpg
http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_4511.jpg

A view of the fishfinder (temporary Eagle 242) until I get some more info. at the Fred Hall Show for the sideview Humminbird models.
http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_4480.jpg
Here are some live Mackerals from our last tournament in La Jolla. Mr. Pliska was kind enough to give me a few. I had the bottom drain plug out and kept the tank pump on low. Bait was really fresh and lively.

I'll be adding more photos soon. Hopefully with some fish!

Re: Malibu Kayak Stealth 14 with X-Wing

I have had the fishfinder on the X-Factor and when I got deeper than 250' the screen went black. Well, the same with this new fishfinder with the transducer out in the water. I thought it would be the transducer that was making it weak but I guess it's just the Eagle 242.

completed Stealth

Finally the Stealth is now complete!

Well.... the kayak is complete! The Humminbird 798c si is now mounted on the X-Wing and man is that transducer big!

http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p.../IMG_4544a.jpg

I also just finished making my rod holders so they stay inside the flushmounts better.

http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p.../IMG_4545a.jpg

I added the Ram mount and have it straight out towards me for easy access! Very easy to read and mark spots or change screens.

http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p.../IMG_4546a.jpg

Custom transducer mount with a $5.00 antenna pole holder from Boaters World and custum stainless steel pipe.

http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_4547.jpg

Here is the kelp line going out to the bait barge from the launch.

Re: Malibu Kayak Stealth 14 with X-Wing

I have a question when it comes to the fish finder install on the X-wing! I myself have the Stealth-14 being shipped to me from OEX and I am going to install the eagle cuda 300 myself. Question: Once I install the finder on the x-wing and route the wires through it to the battery, how will I then route the ducer cable from the x-wing into the hull of the yak? Should I even install the ducer inside or find a different way? It just looks easy and neat to put in the hull.... Please help if anyone can!!

Look on Kayak Fishing Supplies, search wire seal as well as deck connector. This is how you will get the transducer routed in the hull. If you split the power to the x wing
(battery in x wing)and the transducer to the hull, you will need a deck connector on your X wing, to make it removable, otherwise route both to hull and battery in hull.

The guys from OEX are sending me a wire seal (whats the purpose of the seal?) but never mentioned the deck connector. I better hit them up with a message before they send the yak out. I also saw this type of install too, what do you think?

Re: Malibu Kayak Stealth 14 with X-Wing

Andy/Kiyo,

Where is the outflow for the automatic bilge located? How does the floating bilge work? Triggered by moisture?

Kiyo 04-07-2009 10:37 PM

Re: Malibu Kayak Stealth 14 with X-Wing

Nate... the bilge pump is located in the back. When the switch floats up it clicks and tuns on the pump. It pumps out in the back where the bait tank is strapped down and just pumps back on top of the kayak.

It needs to be adjusted. Maybe a piece of styrofoam rubber banded below the swith so it will pump quicker.
