Lure Scents

Being a longtime user of scents on plastics, I am always looking for new products or opinions. I know there are some new scents on the market, and would like to see what everyone is using. If you currently are using one, please take the poll and let us know what it is and how it's working for you. You may enter multiple choices in case you use more than one type. Thank You,
Perry

I use either anchovie or (beleive it or not) WD40 (a fish oil base) and they seem to work equally well. In the case of WD40, it is handy on the boat for things that go squeak in the dark.

I use hot sauce, anchovy oil, and believe it or not, sometimes I bring some of my fish oil Omega 3 capsules with me and poke a hole in them and squeeze the oil on my lure! You have to keep the capsules dry or they dissolve, I found that out the hard way! Piranha

On my spinnerbaits and non scented plastics I use Crave Anchovy. The best fish catching product I have used so far is Gulp.

I use hot sauce and either Sardine, Halibut or Squid ProCure, usually carry hot sauce and one of the ProCures with me.

Could someone who's had success with Gulp put up a list of Gulp baits/styles/colors that have worked for them? I've heard good things about Nuclear Chicken and New Penny, but I donno what size/style to try! Also hook size and configuration/ fishing techniques would be great! Thanks for helping! Piranha :coffee ;)

So far I’ve tried the Calico hot sauce, pro-cure in sardine, smelly jelly in anchovy. Sometimes they made a difference and sometimes they didn’t. My neighbor gave me a bottle of uni butter last weekend. I’ve heard some really good things about this product and can’t wait to get it a try. The one product with a scent that has worked almost every time is GULP aka fish crack. I've heard that the GULP juice will be for sale in the near future.

Wd40 works good. Commonly used in the south in fresh water.

:hello Different world, Texas Gulf coast and we don't have all the options. Here Gulp works great, just match the hook size to the bait and fish like any other plastic. As for which one to choose, it seems like the same rules apply as selecting plastics.

Thanks for the omega 3 tip. A new weapon in my assonal.

Re: Lure Scents

Like the 4" new penny shrimp and the 4" smelt very much in the Gulp. Down in bahia de Los Angeles a while ago I was using old, stale pieces of Gulp which had been fished many times and the fish ate it all - did not matter what color or how old.

Re: Lure Scents

Believe it or not, when fishing Calicos, I have been putting " Nitro" brand
trout scent on my hands before handling anything at all including line and hooks, and the bait catches the scent of my hands and I have had excellent success.

Up here on the central coast we have found Gravy in squid to really work well.

Re: Lure Scents

Was doing well with Gulp but lately shrimp, smelt, and squid have had zero response. Of course, ProCure squid and sardine are not doing anything either.

Back to live sardines and fresh-dead, filleted sardines.

Purchased my first bag of Gulp (Shrimp) at the new Bass Pro Shop yesterday. Outdoorsman's heaven there!!! Can't wait to try it out. I'll post results.
